What is EPSCA?

EPSCA is the English Primary Schools Chess Association.  It organises national schools tournaments and national area and county team competition for primary aged children.  More information can be found on the EPSCA website: www.epsca.org.uk

Wey Valley Chess – Surrey

Wey Valley Chess is a member of EPSCA and each year we select children to represent us in the National Team Championships.    We select three squads of players; 24 under 11 girls, 32 under 11 girls and boys and 30 under 9 girls and boys from our U12 Championship which takes place in January.

Players selected for the squads will be emailed and are entitled to buy a Wey Valley shirt with our logo printed on it.  However, squad selection and buying a shirt does not mean playing in the team.

Following our Ramsay Cups Championships, which take place Sunday, 23rd February, we select from the squads the playing teams, board order and reserves who will take part in the Zonal events and, if we qualify, also the Finals.
