No discussion will be entered into concerning the pairings.
Nobody gets knocked out and players are expected to play all five rounds. If a player needs to leave early, please inform the arbiters prior to leaving or upon your arrival if possible.
Scoring:
1 point for a win, ½ for a draw or 0 for a loss.
Time Control:
In all sections there will be 5 rounds played with digital clocks on all boards:
- In the Major, U11 and U9 sections, clocks will be at a rate of all moves in 35 minutes plus 5 second increments per move per player. This time limit is used in the U9 section of the EPSCA National Team Championships with the U11 sections getting slightly longer so is good practice for these competitions.
- Minor section, clocks will be at a rate of all moves in 10 minutes plus 5 second increments per move per player.
Recording:
It is optional for players to record their games. We recommend those in the Major, U11 and U9 sections for those wishing to be selected to join our county squad record their moves at this event as we will be looking for players who can take the time to do this.
If you have not done so before, it is a simple procedure and information on how to can be found here.
Scoresheets will be provided. One may use a scorebook, however, if a controller/ arbiter sees anybody misuse their scorebook (e.g. looking through it) during a game then the player will lose the game by default and may also be disqualified from the remaining rounds.
Rating:
All games in all sections will be sent to the ECF for rating. It is a condition of entry that players agree to their rating information being published by the ECF (English Chess Federation). This information (Rating Reference Number, Name, Club(s), Grade(s), Rating Category) is published as part of the Rating list on the ECF’s website.
