Hawley Primary School Chess Club

We are delighted to announce that Chess Club at Hawley Primary School will continue in the Autumn Term 2026 for all students in Years 3–6.

Whether your child is a complete beginner or an experienced player, everyone is welcome!

Day, Time and Room

Wednesday Lunch Break
Time: 12.15pm – 1.00pm
Location: All Sorts Room

Each session is designed to develop chess skills, confidence and enjoyment of the game. Sessions include a tuition lesson followed by a match game.

Children who arrive early are welcome to play a short friendly game before the tuition begins.

Chess Club members are able to have an early lunch before attending the session.

Autumn Term 2026 Dates

Chess Club will run for 9 weeks during the Autumn Term on the following dates:

October 2026: 7, 14, 21
November 2026: 4, 11, 18, 25
December 2026: 2, 9

Please note: There will be no Chess Club session during half term (26th October – 30th October 2026).

Membership Fees

Chess Club membership fees are due in full at the start of each term.

Early Bird Rate: £105.30 (£11.70 per session)

A £25.00 late charge will apply after the early bird deadline, making the total fee:

Late Rate: £130.30

♟️ Trial Lesson

Not sure whether your child will enjoy chess club? New pupils can attend one trial session for £15, provided the trial is booked and paid for in advance by a parent or guardian.

If your child decides to join the club after the trial, the £15 trial fee will be deducted from the termly membership fee.

To apply for a trial: Please complete the membership form and write “TRIAL LESSON” in the comments box. We will then email you with details of how to pay the £15 trial fee and arrange the session.

Trial sessions are subject to availability and must be arranged in advance. We are unable to offer free trial sessions.

Important:

Completing the application form and/ or paying the membership fees confirms you agree to the following terms:

  • The early bird rate is only available until 23/10/2026.
  • Payments received after this date receive a late payment charge of £25.
  • Your child’s chess club membership will continue indefinitely term by term until you inform us if he/she wishes to cancel their membership.
  • In order to cancel membership, we need a half term’s advance written notice and an email to admin@chessentriesforall.com.
  • If we do not receive a written half term advance notice of cancellation then a half term fee will be charged.

Would your child be interested in representing Surrey as part of our Wey Valley county chess team? This is a fantastic opportunity for enthusiastic young players to develop their skills further and take part in inter-county competitions.
